Terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules - Design qualification and type approval - Part 1: Test requirements
Also Known As:
IEC 61215-1:2016 is a standard that specifies the design qualification and type certification requirements for terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules. The standard focuses especially on modules meant to operate in general open-air conditions. It is applicable to several module types, including crystalline silicon and thin-film modules.
This standard's objective is to test the electrical and thermal characteristics of PV modules and verify their capacity to endure continuous exposure in the defined climates. The tests are performed in a cost-effective and timely manner. The standard's structure has been updated to be consistent with other IEC standards in this edition. Part 1 outlines the overall requirements, Part 1x details each PV technology, and Part 2 outlines the testing procedure. Module Quality Tests (MQTs) are all of the tests defined in Part 2.
