Standard EN SamplePhotography - Processed Silver-Gelatin Type Black-and-White Film - Specifications for Stability
Also Known As:
ISO 10602:1995 is a standard that specifies the specifications for black-and-white photographic films used for long-term record storage. This standard specifically applies to films with a base of safety cellulose ester or polyester and silver-gelatin emulsions. Through negative or full-reversal processing, these films are converted to a black-and-white silver image.
The standard also addresses film splicing, which can be accomplished using ultrasonic or dielectric (induction-heated) processes. These films are processed using a monobath containing thiosulfate as a fixing agent, followed by a standard wash.
This standard also applies to silver films that have been stabilized by partially or completely converting them to silver sulfide, silver selenide, or gold.
