Standard EN SampleImaging materials - Processed silver-gelatin-type black-and-white films - Specifications for stability
Also Known As:
ISO 18901:2010 specifies the requirements for the stability of processed silver-gelatin-type black-and-white films. This standard applies only to films with a safety cellulose ester or polyester base and silver-gelatin emulsions. The films must be processed in a monobath with thiosulfate as the fixing agent, followed by a standard wash.
Furthermore, ISO 18901:2010 applies to films that have been stabilized by partial or total conversion to silver sulfide, silver selenide, or gold. This standard applies to films with ultrasonic or dielectric splices, however it does not apply to films with adhesive tape or solvent-type splices.
ISO 18901:2010 does not apply to films featuring chromogenic black-and-white images, color images of any kind, or films with a magnetic recording track. This standard does not apply to films having silver images created through dry, thermal, or diffusion-reversal processing. This standard does not apply to films produced in a monobath with fixing solutions other than thiosulfate-type solutions.
Furthermore, ISO 18901:2010 does not apply to films that have been lacquer-treated. This standard is only concerned with the stability of silver-gelatin-type black-and-white films, guaranteeing that the films meet particular standards for durability and long-term record preservation.
