Air-conditioning - Noise generation and noise reduction
Also Known As:
A standard called VDI 2081 Part 1 focuses on the noise production and noise reduction of HVAC systems used in rooms and workplaces. It gives guidelines for the design and planning of HVAC systems to ensure low noise emissions and describes the requirements for noise protection throughout the installation of these systems.
The standard does not apply to structures with existing HVAC systems because its main goal is to support initial planning and design. It presents an approximation method that makes it possible to gauge the sound pressure level produced by the local HVAC system.
The fact that this standard has undergone considerable alterations should be noted. It now has modifications and enhancements to better handle the issues and challenges surrounding noise in air-conditioning systems. VDI 2081 Part 2 contains further examples of computations and comprehensive information.
