Air-conditioning - Noise Generation and Noise Reduction
Also Known As:
The noise production and reduction of air-conditioning systems, particularly those used for ventilation and air-conditioning of rooms and work areas, is the topic of standard VDI 2081 Part 1. It gives guidelines for acoustic planning and design and describes the needs for noise protection during the installation of these systems. The guideline does not apply to buildings with existing installations.
This standard's primary goal is to make sure air-conditioning systems adhere to the necessary noise protection requirements. It offers a method for roughly estimating the sound pressure level produced by the area's HVAC system. This enables engineers and designers to evaluate the system's potential noise impact and, if necessary, take the necessary steps to lower noise levels.
It's important to note that the standard has undergone substantial adjustments, which shows ongoing attempts to strengthen and improve the recommendations made. This standard is supplemented by VDI 2081 Part 2, which provides examples of calculations for the acoustic planning and design of HVAC systems.
