Arc Welding Equipment - Part 12: Coupling Devices for Welding Cables
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60974-12:2011 focuses on coupling tools for welding cables. These coupling mechanisms are made to make connection and separation simple without the use of tools. The standard outlines the performance and safety specifications for such coupling devices. The connection mechanisms for underwater welding are not covered by this standard, but they should be mentioned.
The standard's third version, which incorporates a number of technical improvements, replaces the second edition that was released in 2005. The qualities listed in Annex A now have normative status, which means they are regarded as obligatory, which is a significant change. Additionally, the cross-sectional size of the welding cable to which they are intended to be connected now determines how coupling devices are labeled.
