Standard EN SampleStandard for Container Assemblies for LP-Gas
Also Known As:
Various stationary container assemblies used to store liquefied petroleum gases are covered under the UL 644:2019 Standard for Container Assemblies for LP-Gas. These interchangeable aboveground, underground, or other types of container assemblies are made to hold gases like propane, propylene, butane, and butylenes. The current edition of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) must be followed by the tanks utilized in these assemblies.
According to the standard, container assemblies that have fuel storage tanks with a water capacity of 4000 gallons (15.14 m3) or less fall under the purview of the UL 644 standard. These assemblies may also have provisions for liquid takeoff, although their primary purpose is for delivering fuel in the gaseous phase. It's crucial to remember that this standard does not cover liquid supply or withdrawal mechanisms.
Installations for container assemblies must be done in compliance with the NFPA 58 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code. These assemblies are not intended for use in pipeline or marine terminals, chemical, petrochemical, petroleum, or utility power plants, or associated storage facilities at such plants or terminals, according to the standard.
