The requirements for relocatable power taps (RPT) rated at 250 V AC or less and 20 amps or fewer are covered by the standard UL 1363:2018. These power taps are intended to be used as portable power supply connectors for electrical devices with cord and plug connections. They shouldn't be utilized as permanent fixtures or wiring for buildings.

For RPTs with various characteristics, including an inbuilt Class 2 power supply, luminaire, electromagnetic interference filter, surge protective device, ground-fault protection, and more, the standard offers instructions. It states that certain RPTs, such as those meant for medical equipment or certain patient care areas in healthcare facilities, are exempt from this standard's coverage.

The standard also does not apply to RPTs that have equipment for an uninterruptible power supply in the primary circuit or work surfaces designed to handle weight loads. Additionally, it indicates the possibility of RPTs having characteristics like an integrated cord reel, isolated secondary circuits, batteries placed in isolated secondary circuits, and LED luminaires.

The standard also provides supplements for RPTs with batteries, extensible relocatable power taps, and RPTs with integrated thermal interruption mechanisms.
