SAE AS 6858:2017 PDF Download

SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and EUROCAE (European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment) collaboratively created the SAE AS 6858:2017 standard. The purpose of this document is to offer technical specifications for the secure installation of gaseous hydrogen-fueled Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell Systems (FCS) in large civil aircraft.

The standard contains a variety of technical ideas and methods that are regarded as best practices in the industry for the integration of PEM Fuel Cell Systems. However, prior to implementation, some of these ideas and strategies could need explicit clearance from the procurement activity. This approval procedure is aimed at verifying that the prime contractor has properly assessed the system's dependability and durability under the necessary conditions and can offer supporting documentation for approval before finalizing the design, not to forbid their use.
