Standard EN SampleAcoustics - Measurement of airborne noise emitted by information technology and telecommunications equipment
Also Known As:
The measurement and reporting techniques for the noise emission of information technology and telecommunications equipment are laid forth in the standard ISO 7779:2010. The A-weighted sound power level, which is used to compare equipment of the same type from several manufacturers or to compare different equipment, is the main emphasis of the standard. For the purpose of calculating sound power levels to accommodate existing facilities and experiences, ISO 7779:2010 offers three fundamental noise emission criteria.
ISO 7779:2010 specifies the measurement of the A-weighted emission sound pressure level at operator positions or bystander positions in addition to the A-weighted sound power level. This measurement, which is based on ISO 11201, aids in identifying potential problems that can irritate users or onlookers or cause interference or hearing harm.
The standard also offers methods, which are detailed in annexes, for determining whether the noise emission has noticeable discrete tones or is impulsive in nature. Type tests can be performed with ISO 7779:2010, which also offers manufacturers and testing facilities ways to get similar findings.
Equipment that creates broadband noise, narrowband noise, noise with discrete-frequency components, or impulsive noise is subject to the processes defined in ISO 7779:2010. The acquired sound power and emission sound pressure levels can be used for noise emission declaration and comparison purposes, and statistical values for a manufacturing series can be established based on several tests.
