The A-weighted sound power level, which is used to compare equipment of the same type from several manufacturers or to compare different equipment, is the main emphasis of the standard. Equipment that creates broadband noise, narrowband noise, noise with discrete-frequency components, or impulsive noise is subject to the processes defined in ISO 7779:2010. The acquired sound power and emission sound pressure levels can be used for noise emission declaration and comparison purposes, and statistical values for a manufacturing series can be established based on several tests.
