In particular, ISO 1938-1:2015 focuses on plain limit gauges of linear size and the geometrical product specifications (GPS) of dimensional measuring equipment. Important metrological and design details of these gauges are described in this standard.
The standard specifies the many kinds of plain limit gauges that are employed to confirm linear dimensional criteria pertaining to linear size. Additionally, it describes the metrological and design aspects of these gauges. For these metrological features, ISO 1938-1:2015 also specifies Maximum Permissible Limits (MPLs) for the new state and wear limits state.
The standard also describes how limit gauges should be used. Up to 500 mm in linear sizes are covered. The requirements for plain limit gauges of linear size must be met in accordance with this standard to provide precise dimensional measurements.
