Photovoltaic Devices - Part 9: Solar Simulator Performance Requirements
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60904-9:2007 outlines the performance specifications for sun simulators used to assess terrestrial photovoltaic modules indoors. According to the standard, solar simulators are divided into three categories—A, B, and C—based on factors like spectral distribution matching, irradiance non-uniformity on the test plane, and temporal instability. The standard also specifies methods for figuring out a solar simulator's rating in each of the various classifications.
The redefining of the classes and the adoption of new measuring techniques are the two key changes in this edition of the standard. In doing so, it is made sure that the solar simulators used to evaluate photovoltaic devices meet the essential performance standards and deliver trustworthy data.
