Electroacoustics - Instruments for measurement of aircraft noise - Performance requirements for systems to measure sound pressure levels in noise certification of aircraft
Also Known As:
IEC 61265:2018 is a standard that details the performance specifications for tools used to gauge sound pressure levels in relation to the certification of airplane noise. The standard offers standards for these measuring systems' electroacoustical performance, taking into account the tools employed, the equipment for recording and processing data, and the output that is needed. These systems' goals are to make sure that airplanes adhere to the criteria for noise certification and to make it easier to compare various aircraft models.
The standard specifies the various parts of a sound measurement system, such as the windscreen, microphone, and accessories, and provides performance standards for each of them. These systems should be able to precisely measure sound levels and store the essential data. They can run on analog or digital principles.
IEC 61265:2018 is the updated version of the standard that was first released in 1995. Numerous technical updates are made in the new edition, including the addition of instructions for measurements on aircraft other than large cargo planes. Additionally, it specifies specifications for weighted sound level measurements in specific types of aircraft as well as standards for microphones used in ground-plane measuring systems. Furthermore, the standard now has clauses for evaluating measurement uncertainty.
