Photovoltaic (PV) arrays - Design requirements
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 62548:2016 describes the specifications for designing photovoltaic (PV) arrays. It includes numerous elements like earthing arrangements, electrical protection devices, switching, and wiring for DC arrays. Except in situations where DC safety considerations are implicated, it does not apply to loads, energy storage devices, or power converter apparatus. The standard also specifies how small DC conditioning units intended to be connected to PV modules should be interconnected.
This document's main goal is to discuss the design safety criteria unique to photovoltaic systems. It acknowledges that there are additional risks associated with direct current power systems, particularly PV arrays, than there are with traditional AC power systems. The possibility of creating and maintaining electrical sparks with currents that might not exceed typical operating currents is one of these risks.
