Junction boxes for photovoltaic modules - Safety requirements and tests
Also Known As:
The safety criteria and tests for junction boxes used in solar modules are described in the standard IEC 62790:2020. The specification applies to junction boxes that comply with class II of IEC 61140:2016 and have a voltage rating of up to 1,500 V DC. It also pertains to PV module enclosures that house electronic circuits for converting, managing, or performing similar tasks. However, as other IEC standards apply to electrical circuits, it does not cover those specifically.
Compared to the first edition, the standard's second edition has undergone a number of technical changes. The following changes have been made: updates to referenced standards, addition of information about RTE/RTI or TI, improvements to the declaration of junction box categories, clarification of ambient temperature requirements, improvements to the declaration of RTE/RTI or TI, corrections to the process of categorizing material groups, requirements for insulation parts, changes to requirements concerning electrochemical potential, clarifications rega
By ensuring that junction boxes for photovoltaic modules satisfy the relevant specifications and can endure a variety of climatic conditions and operational demands, these modifications and upgrades seek to increase the junction boxes' safety and dependability.
