Nuclear Power Plants - Instrumentation, Control and Electrical Power Systems - Security Controls
Also Known As:
IEC 63096:2020 is a standard that focuses on the security measures for nuclear power plant electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. It offers a list of suggested and optional security measures that are ranked in accordance with the IEC 62645 security levels. Nuclear I&C programmable digital systems and architectures, encompassing tasks like I&C platform development, project engineering, operation, and maintenance, are intended to be implemented using these controls.
Throughout the lifecycle of the I&C programmable digital systems, the standard is intended to be used for the design of I&C systems in new nuclear power plants as well as for the modernization and modification of existing I&C systems in nuclear power plants. Other types of nuclear facilities may also be able to use it.
Nuclear I&C programmable digital systems that are both safety- and non-safety-classified are covered by IEC 63096:2020. Electrical systems, sensors, and actuators that are a part of the I&C control loop are also included. It also applies to IEC 63046-compliant electrical systems that use digital programmable technology. Electrical systems are implicitly covered by the words "nuclear I&C programmable digital systems," "I&C system," or "I&C platform" if they involve programmable digital systems.
