A head and torso simulator is required by the IEC 60318-7:2022 standard for measuring sound sources close to the ear in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 16,000 Hz. This simulator is not appropriate for measurements involving bone conduction or the simulation of bone or tissue because it was created particularly for airborne acoustic measurements. Only manikins that adhere to these parameters are regarded as compliant with the standard, which includes requirements for the manikin's acoustic and physical characteristics. The scope of IEC 60318-7:2022, which is a revised version of IEC TS 60318-7:2017, has been expanded to encompass sound sources close to the ear.
