Electroacoustics: Octave-band and Fractional-octave-band Filters, Part 1: Specifications Standard, commonly known as ASA S1.11-Part 1-2014, is a national adoption of an international standard. This standard specifies the performance requirements for different filter types, including analog, sampled-data, and digital band-pass filter implementations.

This standard's requirement that the pass-band area of a filter's relative attenuation characteristic be expressed as a constant proportion of the mid-band frequency is one of its important features. This means that, for filters with the same bandwidth, the size of the pass-band region is constant. 

The standard also permits the use of any quantity of consecutive band-pass filters, covering any desired frequency range, within an instrument.
